Lori Ann LaRocco is the author of the book “Dynasties of the Sea”, which was published by Marine Money. It’s a book about “the shipowners and financiers who expanded the era of free trade” as the subtitle of the book says. The book also contains a portrait of Dagfinn Lunde. In an appendix of the book, major lessons learned from the shipping leaders are summarized by Lori Ann LaRocco. The lessons learned from her interview with Dagfinn Lunde are summarized as follows:
1.) “You need to work damn hard to achieve what you set out for. You can´t be intimidated.”
2.) “You have to find another way if your first solution doesn’t work. The backup plan has to be clear immediately, because when you sit on that tipping point, you can´t wait.”
3.) “We stick to our agreements and we expect you to do it, too.”
4.) “Either you give me a check, or give me the key. Everyone can give loans. But the real expertise is to get that money back.”

DVB's Shipping & Intermodal Investment Management participated with equity capital in the transaction together with Jefferies Capital Partners, a New York-based private equity firm, and others. DVB Corporate Finance served as financial advisor in connection with the transaction.
