DVB's Global Advisory and M&A Team closes important European rail transaction for Genesee & Wyoming Inc.
DVB Capital Markets LLC has acted as exclusive financial advisor to New York Stock Exchange listed Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (NYSE: GWR) in connection with its successful acquisition of Rotterdam Rail Feeding B.V. ("RRF"). The U.S. based subsidiary of DVB Bank AG ("DVB"), DVB Capital Markets is a U.S. SEC registered broker-dealer and a FINRA member firm.
Genesee & Wyoming ("GWI"), founded in 1899 and headquartered in Greenwich, Connecticut, is a worldwide owner and operator of short line and regional freight railroads (www.gwrr.com). In 2007, GWI mandated DVB Capital Markets LLC as its financial advisor to identify, evaluate, and assist in the acquisition of its first short line or regional railroad in Europe. DVB, through its network of global offices, clients and professional contacts ("DVB Group"), identified RRF, a privately owned provider of traction feeding and shunting services within the port of Rotterdam, as an acquisition target and successfully coordinated the process through which GWI acquired 100% of RRF's outstanding shares in April 2008.
Mark S. Johnson, Managing Director of DVB Capital Market's Global Advisory and M&A Division, worked closely with Joseph Devoe, Head of the Land Transport Division of New York based DVB Transport (US) LLC, to manage the transaction, and stated: "DVB Group is pleased to have assembled the highly dynamic global team that assisted Genesee with its strategic entrance into the European rail market".
